Why ‘Golden Ratio’will always make your design click ?

How do you achieve the perfect proportions? You saw a beautiful gallery wall composition on Pinterest and end up confused how to manage the sizes and proportions with all the pictures that you have. Read on to learn a tip that never fails …

I still remember when our teacher in college introduced the ‘Golden Ratio’ as the Pythagoras Theorem of Architecture. Really??? I realise she was right , probably something bigger than that.

A jaw dropping fact is that almost everything in nature follows the rule of Golden Ratio

 i.e.- 1.618.

To put it simply, the higher dimension divided by the smaller dimension should be equal to 1.618.

Applying this to the interiors, when you are determining the size of a wall panel or the size of niches or the shelves in your display cabinet and want an asymmetrical look , just decide on one dimension that works for you, divide it by 1.618 if you want it to look smaller and multiply by 1.618 , if you want it bigger. And here you are…. There is no going wrong with this rule. You will surely achieve the balance you have been looking for.

Before I leave you to think about how you would use this, did you know that your nose, face, the flower petal sizes, shells, galaxies…… everything follows the Golden ratio. So even if home styling is the last thing on your mind, go forth and apply it on your website designs to determine the size of your rectangles and save time in finding out why you are still not there, getting a perfect photograph with the Golden rectangle and embroidering that lovely patch on your dress by merely drawing a flower in the golden rectangle. Trust me, you will never go wrong.

And if this is not enough to surprise you, each flower petal is always placed at 0.618034 per turn (out of a 360° circle) to allow the maximum exposure to sunlight and other factors.

Drop your comments for your questions and also to share your experiences in applying it.
